April Class 3 - Posture Work
“The spine is the tree of life. Respect it.” - Martha Graham. We will continue our internal listening work. Understanding posture requires internal listening, recognizing shifts in our alignment, and applying approaches to correct our standing. The April classes will focus on how the core supports the torso while moving through space. Classes is open to all movers whether you are a novice, somewhere in the middle, or professional.

April Class 2 - Posture Work
Listening in. So much of our energy is spent on outer awareness that we forget to bring it in, quiet the mind, and take inventory of our inner being. We’ve spent a little time investigating the core, moving along the floor and now it’s time to stand and claim our posture. “Posture is the way we live in our structure.” - Andrea Olsen As we stand, walk, work, use and abuse our bodies, there is an ongoing conversation between structure and posture. The April classes will focus on how to engage the core while moving through space with efficient alignment. Exploring the floor through core / distal action is one of the neurological pathways all humans go through in the first years of life. Returning to the floor through core driven action reconnects us to our earliest memories of movement The March classes will focus on how to move in and out of the floor by activating the core and maintaining balance These classes is open to all movers whether you are a novice, somewhere in the middle, or professional.

Now that we’ve spent a little time connecting to the core, let’s take a closer look at the lower half. Legs, we have 2 of them. They give us stability and mobility as we stand, walk, and move from one place to another. These next 2 classes will focus on using the core to travel through space while maintaining effective alignment. Again, these classes is open to all movers whether you are a novice, somewhere in the middle, or professional.

Class Three - Postural Awareness
